Fitraat Focus for researchers
Reading and writing are different sittings.
A paper does not move because you ‘worked on it’ all afternoon. It moves when one phase has a target, effort, and a record of what changed.
Why the paper stalls
Research mixes reading, analysis, and prose until none of them finish. Ericsson’s point applies: practice counts when it is structured and you can see the result. A purpose system splits the project into phases. A session is one task inside one phase.
Why this, for the work
Phases, then tasks
Sections are the order of the project. Tasks are finishable: one paper read, one figure, one subsection drafted.
Do not mix the modes
Reading and writing do not share an intention. Name which one this sitting is.
Feedback you will actually keep
Three scores after Close. Later, Stats shows the month, not a feeling that you were busy.
The phone stays covered
On Android, choose the apps that stay closed. When one opens, Fitraat Focus covers it. While the focus timer runs, you can add blocks, and you cannot remove them until the timer ends.

How a research session runs
Protect one mode. Finish one unit.
01
Map the project
Outcome, story, sections, tasks. The literature, the method, the draft, the revision — as work you can check off.
02
Pick the mode
Today’s task is either read, compute, or write. Write that in the intention.
03
Prepare sources first
Resources means the PDF, the data, the draft — open before the timer, not hunted during it.
04
Work the block
Ultradian if the problem is heavy. Pomodoro if you are extracting notes. Stay with that choice.
05
Leave a trace
Close. In Reflect, write what moved and what distracted you. The next sitting starts from that, not from memory.
